Unlicensed Phoenix Man Guilty of
Contracting Without a License
Phoenix, Ariz., (July 22, 2021) – On Wed., July 21, 2021, the Peoria Municipal Court found Rodney B McIntyre, 60 of Phoenix, guilty of Contracting Without a License, a Class 1 Misdemeanor.
The charge stemmed from a 2020 Arizona Registrar of Contractors (AZ ROC) investigation that found McIntyre, DBA Rodney McIntyre Painter, contracted to paint the outside of a Peoria home and perform remodeling work for $9,100.
The homeowner told an AZ ROC Investigator they found McIntyre via a Facebook advertisement and hired him for the job in April 2020.
Workmanship and work delay issues arose, and eventually McIntyre stopped coming to the jobsite and communicating with the homeowner. The homeowner eventually filed a complaint with AZ ROC, but not before paying McIntyre $6,089.
McIntyre has never been a licensed contractor in Arizona.
The Peoria Municipal Court ordered McIntyre to pay $3,200 in restitution to the homeowner and fined him $1,000.
AZ ROC reminds home and property owners that regardless of whether the referral comes from an advertisement, website or someone you know, always check the license before hiring a contractor at www.roc.az.gov or by giving the Agency a call at 1-877-692-9762.
