PHOENIX, Ariz., (September 28, 2018) – On Wednesday, September 26, at approximately 11:10 AM, the Lake Havasu Police Department arrested Christopher David Cook, 36 of Spanish Fork, Utah, on a felony warrant.
After receiving a tip regarding his potential whereabouts, the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (AZ ROC) worked with Lake Havasu PD who then arrested Cook, DBA Scenicrete at a Lake Havasu City residence.
The felony warrant was for Fraudulent Schemes and Artifices, a Class 2 Felony; Theft, a Class 3 Felony; Contracting Without a License, a Class 1 Misdemeanor; and Advertising Without a License, a Class 1 Misdemeanor. The charges stem from an AZ ROC investigation, which found that Cook was paid $7,000 to install new concrete countertops for a Lake Havasu homeowner but abandoned the job after completing only part of the demolition.
Cook has no prior history with the AZ ROC and has never been licensed in the State of Arizona.
AZ ROC appreciates Lake Havasu Police Department for their investigation and apprehension of Cook, which went without incident.
Cook was transported to Mohave County Jail in Kingman, Arizona.
The AZ ROC commonly receives complaints regarding unlicensed entities exploiting property owners ranging from poor work to complete abandonment. The AZ ROC reminds property owners to ask contractors of their license status and to check the license by using our website or giving the agency a call.
