AZ ROC: Phoenix-Based Remodeler’s License Summarily Suspended

PHOENIX, Ariz., (May 27, 2021)- On Tues., May 25, 2021, Arizona Registrar of Contractors (AZ ROC) summarily suspended the R-61 Carpentry, Remodeling and Repairs license held by Bright Lite Home Exteriors LLC, a Phoenix-based remodeling business.

The summary suspension proceedings were initiated earlier this month after AZ ROC investigated six complaints against the license, all related to incomplete bathroom remodels in Phoenix, Tempe, Glendale and Goodyear homes.

Based on the complaints received and the preliminary investigation, the Agency issued a summary suspension alleging seven charges including:

  • Three counts of failure to meet the minimum industry workmanship standards.
  • Three counts of abandonment of a contract or refusal to work after submitting a bid on work without a legal excuse for the abandonment or refusal.
  • One count of failure to notify the Agency of any transfer of ownership of twenty-five percent or more of the stock or beneficial interest in the company within 30 days after the change occurred.

As the investigation continues, the formal citation may be supplemented.

A summary suspension prohibits the licensee from being able to legally contract as of the day it is issued. In turn, it requires the Agency to provide the contractor a prompt hearing at the Office of Administrative Hearings and the hearing is currently set for June 14, 2021 at 9:00 AM.
