PHOENIX, Ariz., (December 19, 2018) –On Mon., Dec. 10, 2018, Carlos Manuel Reyes, 29 of Tucson, had an Initial Appearance in the Safford Justice Court. Reyes faces charges of Fraudulent Schemes and Artifices, a Class 2 Felony; Theft, a Class 3 Felony; and Contracting Without a License, a Class 1 Misdemeanor.
The case submitted for prosecution stems from an AZ ROC investigation finding that Reyes used the name and license information of his former employer - Damage Control Builders, LLC dba D C Restorations - to contract for a Safford homeowner’s roof replacement. He was paid $2,348 but the project was never completed.
According to the company, a couple weeks after letting Reyes go, the company began receiving calls from unhappy consumers about jobs it had not contracted-for. Concerned Reyes was using the company’s name and ROC number to obtain contracts, money and set-up fraudulent side jobs, the company filed a complaint with the AZ ROC.
The Agency completed its investigation and filed the case with the Graham County Attorney’s office; listing D C Restorations as a victim and the Safford homeowner as second victim.
A preliminary hearing is set for 2:30 pm, on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 in the Safford Justice Court.
