AZ ROC: Glendale Licensee Summarily Suspended
PHOENIX, Ariz., (Dec. 24, 2018) – On Fri., Dec. 21, 2018, the Arizona Registrar of Contractors summarily suspended the CR-42 Roofing license held by Arthur King Roofing Company Inc., a Glendale-based contracting business.
On Dec. 7 and Dec. 10, 2018, AZ ROC received two complaints alleging abandonment from consumers; an HOA replacing roofs on 10 units and a homeowner, who contracted with Arthur King Roofing Company Inc.. Both consumers paid down payments, but no work was started and the company became unresponsive. In addition, the Agency was already investigating one complaint of poor workmanship.
Based on the complaints received and the preliminary investigations, the Agency issued a summary suspension alleging three counts of abandonment and one count of poor workmanship. As the investigation continues, these counts may be amended.
In addition to the three cases listed in the summary suspension, the Agency is also investigating two other complaints; one alleging non-payment for goods or services provided and another alleging abandonment that was received on Dec. 21, 2018.
A hearing regarding the summary suspension has been set with the Office of Administrative Hearings for 9:00 am on January 4, 2019.
Arthur King Roofing Company Inc. has been licensed in Arizona since 1994 and operated without complaint through 2010. Since 2011, AZ ROC substantiated 7 other complaints about the company in addition to the three cases leading to the summary suspension and the three open investigations.
This is not the first disciplinary suspension taken against the license. It was suspended earlier this year, from Jan. 17, 2018 until Feb. 22, 2018 for non-payment to a material supplier. The suspension was lifted after the amount owed was paid to the supplier.
All 6 of the closed previous complaints were resolved by the company completing the work or paying the money owed to a supplier.
